How to Send Files From Android to a Windows PC Without a Cable
If you regularly email photos to yourself just to move them from Android to a Windows computer, Quick Share is a cleaner option.
Google's Quick Share for Windows can transfer photos, videos, documents, and other files between nearby Android devices and compatible Windows PCs. Transfers are encrypted, and you can control who is allowed to discover your computer.
Install Google's Quick Share application on the Windows PC, open it, and choose your receiving visibility. For better privacy, Google recommends signing in and using Contacts or Your devices rather than leaving the computer visible to everyone nearby.
On Android, open the photo, document, or other item you want to send. Tap Share > Quick Share, select the Windows computer, and complete the transfer.
Files received by Windows are normally stored in a Quick Share folder inside Downloads.
If the computer does not appear
Check the simple things first. Bluetooth should be on, the devices should be nearby, and their network connections and Quick Share visibility need to meet Google's requirements. Google recommends bringing the devices close together while troubleshooting.
One other detail matters: Google says not to run its Quick Share Windows application as administrator.
Samsung PCs can follow a different Quick Share path, so do not assume every Windows computer will have exactly the same setup.
Bottom line: For Android and Windows users who move files frequently, Quick Share can eliminate a surprising amount of cable plugging and emailing-to-yourself.
